OUR BISHOP,

Bishop Rodney Alpheus Brown, Sr. was born on July 26 in Richmond, Virginia, to Elder John H. Brown and Evangelist Shirley Knight Brown. After completing his education, he attended Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In the fall of 2022, he received his Master’s in Pastoral Counseling from the Empowerment Theological Institute and Bible Seminary (ETIBS) and is currently pursuing a doctorate in the same field.

In 1993, Pastor Brown felt a divine calling and was ordained as a Deacon at the Glorious Church of God in Christ. During this time, he dedicated himself to teaching Sunday School, leading Bible Study, and directing the Men’s Ministry. In 1999, he accepted his calling to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and was licensed by the late Pastor Mother Maudell Dillard.

In September 2000, Pastor Brown was led by the Holy Spirit to New Direction Evangelistic Church in North Chesterfield, Virginia, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Roy L. Foots and Co-Pastor Laura Foots. He took on various leadership roles, including overseeing the New Membership Class, Call to Discipleship, Prison Ministry, Evangelism Ministry, and Outreach Ministries, with a special passion for prison ministry for over a decade. In 2007, Bishop Foots appointed him as the Assistant Pastor of New Direction Evangelistic Church.

In February 2011, Pastor Brown and his wife established Newness of Life Ministries, following the Lord's guidance. He envisioned a ministry focused on transforming members into strong leaders through the preaching, teaching, and living of God's word. Known for his dynamic gifts as a Speaker, Preacher, Teacher, Counselor, and Revivalist, Pastor Brown completed the Evan Smith Leadership Training Institute at the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. In 2020, he became a part of the Kingdom Empowerment International Fellowship of Churches under Prelate Chief Apostle Robbie C. Peters, who consecrated him as a Bishop in Houston, Texas, in July 2021.

Today, Bishop Brown continues to shepherd Newness of Life Ministries, upholding high Godly standards for himself and his congregation. He empowers and challenges members to live Holy, speak Holy, teach God's Holy word, and walk in their individual anointings. His ministry fosters a spirit of prayer and devotion, ensuring that all efforts are for the glory of the Lord.
